If the software is designed to recognise human faces and car registration plates then its not fit for purpose. Whoever wrote it should get their backsides kicked. Well done guys you've probably spotted a failing which means Google are contravening privacy laws. I wonder if the owners of the Anglia and Moggy could sue them |

What's the difference between seeing in reality and seeing on Google street view?

Its a good question.
Looking at it from that viewpoint, why did they bother blotting out the registration numbers and faces at all?
It doesn't bother me either way but if they are going to take a particular stance, at least do it properly. |

I think the registration blotting failed because the camera is programmed to blank out things which fit the exact measurements and colour of a normal rectangular numberplate. Square numberplates are not blocked out, sometimes black and silver plates are, sometimes they're not. I think the Minor may have avoided being blanked because the rear plate on a Minor saloon is rounded on the corners? The Anglia plate is dirty and bent which is why it failed there.
This Morris used to live around the corner from me, the people have since moved even closer, but since moving the car has just sat in the drive - it used to be in daily use. I think it's failed the MOT, probably on rust, as it was used all year round
Here's a shot of the Avro Vulcan based at Southend Airport:

Well they seem to have obscured the Vulcan's registration well enough!
