Bit of an odd question this one. The other week I found an old cassette in the back of a wardrobe, no label on it or anything, and so took it out to play in the car - that being the only place I now have a functioning cassette player! It turns out to be a collection of odds and ends that I taped off the radio many years ago when we lived at Berkeley, likely off the classic gold station that used to broadcast from Bristol on 1260MW - may still do, for all I know. Most of it's pretty unremarkable, but there's one song on there that I can't identify and haven't heard in 20 years or so. The title would be "Man of Bristol" or something along those lines, no idea of the artist though I doubt he was ever famous. The song is basically all about Bristol, Cabot and the Matthew, Brunel and the Clifton suspension bridge and so on - if you know it, you'll know what I'm on about.
This is one of those occasions where Google has been of no use whatsoever, needless to say I'd be interested in any info anyone has to share! |

Sounds as if you need to download Shazam, normally only takes a few bars to identify stuff.

Peter, I suspect you have it, though as nobody seems to have uploaded it to the net I'll probably never know for sure unless a used copy turns up at a sensible price.
Dave, I used to use Shazam back in the day when you dialled from any mobile and held it up to the speaker, but as far as I can tell it's smartphone only these days - unless you know different. As I don't have, don't want, can't afford and probably couldn't work a smartphone, I suspect I'm out... |

| I reckon it is. I turned up the same clip, and it seems to be the best the net has to offer - except a brief post from the man himself somewhere else. Apparently he's still in Bristol and still active around the folk clubs. |
