I have had the same tyres on my Jaguar Mark 2 since 1996 - Michelin XVS 185 HR 15 - and when the repaint of the bodyshell is done later this year I feel I should put new tyres on.
The Michelins, sadly, still have about 7 mil tread left and no deterioration of the tread is visible there is evidence of slight tyrewall cracking.
Avon 185 HR 15 is still available but it is not an appropriate tyre in that the sidewalls are too soft.
Can you people suggest a quality alternative HR 15 tyre please?
I would consider a modern tyre but 205mm wide will be too wide at the rear unless I buy a pair of "Coombs" type rear wheel spats.
Thank you. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Ellis,
This was on the Jag-Lovers forum from Dougal@Longstonetyres.co.uk
"I was told yesterday by a well known Jag fettler that the MK2
offered pirelli Cinturato tyres as their radial alternative. does
anyone know any more about that.
Pirelli are making these tyres again at present

Would be worth giving this company a ring
http://www.vintagetyres.com/
They do mail order and were a wealth of knowledge when I called there last year

Tyres shouldnt be left that long, good tread or not..
If the car has to be inspected for whatever reason, then that could be an real issue with authorities or insurance types. If in doubt change them and be safe. |

I believe that Michelin XAS have been reproduced recently, could be worth a look at _________________ ROVER
