| Is there sombody who can tell me what was the original marque of oil that was recommendet from the factory ? Esso, Mobil etc ? |

Depending on which A7 lubrication chart you look at, Austin have recommended just about all the main oil companies over the years.
The most important thing these days is to appreciate that modern engine oils have been developed to suit modern engines and are not really suitable for the Austin Seven (or other cars of the period) unless certain measures are taken and certain additives used to compensate for their omission.
The original handbook lubrication for the Austin Seven engine is S.A.E. 40 oil in winter and S.A.E. 50 oil in winter. These days there are specialist producers (Morris, Penrite,Comma, Castrol etc.) who offer the correct blend of oil - with additives such as zinc for anti wear properties - which much better suits the Austin Seven engine than the various multigrades that you would use in your modern car.
I believe most Austin Seven owners these days use a low detergent S.A.E. 30 oil from one of the specialist suppliers. |

Thank you for the replay but what i will ask was the original name of the oil that was used by the factory i thought it was Stern's Sternol WW or Price's Motorine C because i want to put later a small oilcan in the enginecompartement

That too is the earliest I have come across.
Erwin is, I think, better informed than either of us.
Whether the Chummy had a scuttle mounted oil can I couldn't say but as the Austin Seven fraternity is the font of all knowledge, I am sure they will have an answer. |

I wouldn't have thought there was room on the chummy scuttle to mount an oil can: the petrol tank takes up most of the bulkhead, with the cut-out unit and wiring squeezed in the rest of the space! |
