|
|
I have been given the option to buy a ford cortina for £500, not sure of the model or year yet as I have not had chance to view it. He's kept it in garden and the engine is currently stripped out and he's unsure whether it will run. Would this be a worthful first project to take on and what should I look for (model, year, problems when restoring). |

I would need more details, a Mk1 or Mk11, then probably, the Mk 111,1V and V were not the best engineering solution even in their day. _________________ KA

Welcome to the forum.
I suppose it depends how deep you want to get into your first project, and what skillsets you want to take on, eg mechanical work, welding, painting, trimming etc? .. because each is bound to need work, to a greater or lesser extent.
Available facilities, eg dry storage and space to work on the car, will also be a factor to consider.

Thanks,
i'm going to give most stuff a go myself, I'm a mechanic on rigs so should be fine with mechanics and the welding, also have friends who can help with the welding and painting.
I've just sold my house and looking so room for this project will be a must when I decide what house to buy lol.
Luckily the mate selling it will keep it for me till I get moved. |
