If you do a search, on google or wherever, for "Cars launched in" followed by your birth year, what cars do you share your own year of birth with? Wikipedia will probaby come up with a summary.

Divulging the actual year isn't required Smile

Gems for myself include the Alfa Romeo Montreal, the Citroen SM, Lambo Urraco, and the ZIL 114 limousine.

Less glamorous are cars such as the Hillman Avenger, Chrysler 180, and the infamous Ford Pinto.

Laughing Wikipedia comes up with 27 for my year. Too many to mention but there is the Standard Vanguard . Jowett Javelin just to name a couple.

Only one 'car' and that was the 'Jeep CJ'. Two trucks in the USA, and a Swedish Scania-Vabis L10 truck.

Obviously my birth year was not a good one for new models, with the possible exception of yours truly.

Using Rick's formula on Google, the following were launched in the year of my birth:-

Lancia Esaro - Italian truck, mainly military.
Sisu S-21 - Truck built in Finland, mainly military.
Toyota AC - Jap sedan that looked something like a Chrysler Airflow.
Toyota KC - A crude Jap truck built largely of wood. Used for starting aircraft engines.
Toyota KCY - Amphibious vehicle built on KC mechanicals.
Volvo PV444/544 - A Volvo sedan that was built until 1966.

I am only familiar with the Volvo!

I had an idea that the Triumph Mayflower appeared in '53, but on checking up found this was the last year of production Embarassed I have a soft spot for the styling of the Mayflower though I don't suppose I'd care for the driving experience, what with a three speed column change and a little sidevalve engine that seems to have been considered underpowered even back in its day. It hardly adds up to something that would be practical around the Valleys... Laughing
