A few years back when I had the Mk3 Cortina, I was relaxing in the sun at the Bus museum just outside Dunfermline when this couple came up to me and she said to her man "We had some fun in the back of one of these." and I was trying not to laugh as she was a bit of a tyre biter but when they left I just couldnt stop laughing. Have you ever had comments said to you by total strangers? Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Not comments in particular, but as a youth we (my brother and I) would go with dad to Manchester Airport, or rather the old brickworks near to it, for an hour or two's plane-spotting. I distinctly remember us walking past a very steamed up Cortina one day, gently rocking on its suspension. Perhaps it was the same car? Smile

I took the 100e to a show in Swansea a few years ago. I'm quite used to people saying that they owned, or had a relative who owned a car just like it but on this occasion...........

A lady (I'm guessing about 70 years of age) looked at the car and said "I must get my son." Sure enough a bit later she arrived with a bloke about 50 in tow. She turned to her son and said "Did you know you were conceived in the back of one of those!"

some years back, I was at a show when 2 couples came and looked at my Standard Vanguard Phase 2. A bit later the two chaps returned and explained that whilst their wives were looking around the Stately Home, could they have photos taken in the car. It transpired their dad had one in their youth and it had seen a lot of action when they borrowed it on Saturday nights, and they didn't want their wives to know of their wilder youthful dalliances.....

When I bought my 2a Land Rover a friend of mine looked at the interior wistfully(truck cab not hard top) and spoke of his days of youth and how he "entertained" several young ladies inside an identical Land Rover.

Given that there is not a lot of space inside a 2a truck cab I'm not sure I believed him.

Do you?

Many years back, likely 60's I was with my Dad at a car/truck show at Woburn. It rained as if there was no tomorrow, but we had paid to get in and trudged around the cars on display. I had a sort of shower proof jacket but my Dad wrapped a groundsheet over and around himself.

We were looking at some weird looking home built, A35/Ford100E/Unknown special.

Another guy turned up and was also viewing it with great interest.

My Dad turned to him and said" So what do you think it is ?"

The other guy turned to my Dad, looked him up and down and said

"It looks like a groundsheet to me"

I am not a pot hunter and I cannot be bothered to spend hours polishing my car, let alone painting it all the same shade of brown. We were at a small local show a couple of years back and the local Mayor was invited to judge the cars and make 2 awards. He duly selected something bright and shiny for his first award and then said his second award went to the Jowett Van, because he had done his courting in one of those! I graciously accepted the trophy without enquiring further!

In the early hours of a rain swept night I was close to home when I came upon another car travelling somewhat slower. After a few hundred yards it signalled to turn right and moved to the centre of the road. I took up a position over to the left in order to pass.

I was just a matter of a few yards away when it unexpectedly started to turn left.

I was familiar with putting the Mini into controlled handbrake turns and spun the car through slightly more than 90 degrees. The wayward car passed to the rear and into a driveway.

I was not best pleased and jumped out of the car to confront the driver, and likely let go a few expletives.

The driver replied as follows.

"you are very rude young man, haven't you ever made a mistake !""

I had no answer to that and walked back to my car, a shouted reply followed me.

"and why were you overtaking on the wrong side !!"

I laugh about it now and wonder what went through that driver's mind during the "mistake"

Location: Pennine area. At some hour after midnight, my companion and I, visited an area of land, behind an abandoned farmhouse what we thought was not very well known.

The headlights illuminated the then familiar reflective colours of a "Panda Car", complete with extinguished lights and steamed over windows.

We left, also regretting not to have noted the Reg No:

Most of you will know I'm not one of the habitual BBC bashers, but have to share this one. On the Welsh BBC TV news, they were reporting about how some terrorism suspect had travelled from Cardiff to Gatwick by coach, flown to Cyprus - and then travelled overland to Syria. Given that Cyprus is an island, I'd say that's some achievement... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I must have a warped sense of humour. I was sitting in the car outside the supermarket ( as you do ) while the wife was doing the shopping when this young woman ( quite tidy she was ) came out clutching a load of groceries..and she dropped most of them Laughing Laughing Laughing which I thought was hilarious as she was probably too miserable to spend 5p on a carrier. The amount of people who don't get a carrier bag now is unreal Shocked
As the saying goes " wakens up during the night in case they have lost any sleep" Laughing Laughing Laughing
