Assuming this was sat empty outside your abode, and you had to put a dent in a £1m lottery win, how would you go about filling this?

Two cars?
One car, and lots of pedal cars?
No cars, just lots of motorcycles?
No cars, just a large Scalextric set?
Smile

For one side, I'd be tempted with this 8C Monza rep (assuming it could ever be road registered). Ok it's not an original, but I'd live with it ...

While alongside, for rainy days when a roof is required, this magnificent S2 Continental:

That'd still leave a few bob over for wall decorations, and perhaps a few motorcycles.

I would have an original and unmodified on of these - Ford Escort RS1600 Mark 1. It's a topic for a later date but I was offered one of these in March 1980, a 1972 "L" registration with 48,000 original miles but my conscience stopped me.

And one of these - a Mini Cooper 970S

although I have never seen one in the metal. And it would have to be in this colour combination.

One day perhaps................

I think I'd start by knocking down the garage and building a bigger one.

Surely with that sort of money you could afford a "brown envelope" to sort out any planning nonsense. If not, I would just move house, probably to somewhere with a climate that lets me use the cars all year round.
To be serious, if I had big money to spend on old cars I would like to have a brass age Edwardian among my collection. No specific marque, just loads of brass including a boa constrictor horn. Oh! and a Prince Henry Vauxhall would be nice even if its brakes were poor. I would also need to have a classic Morgan 3 wheeler and a Triumph Southern Cross.
Sorry, I will have to lie down in a darkened room.

I'd need to build a bigger garage!! and fit it with a fully stocked dream workshop Very Happy And if I can't have planning for a bigger garage, I'd build it underground below the current double garage. or harry potter it!

And in my vastly extended double garage I would have:-

My current 13/60 being fully restored.
1930's Hillman Minx. (My Grandad's 1st car)
Triumph TR6
Triumph 2500 TC
Ford Capri 2.8i
1960's Mini 1000
Hilman Imp
Alpha Romeo 156
Jaguar XJS Coupe
Jaguar XJ6
Morris Minor 1000 (My Dad's 1st Car)
Morris Marina 1.3 (My 1st Car)
and anything else that takes my fancy at the time! Very Happy

As I could fill that double garage with the cars I already have, I'd invest my winnings and go on a never-ending, round-the-world, road trip which would mean I wouldn't need a house in the UK, just the garage.

20 years ago. It would have been an Audi Quattro, like this.

Now it would be something completely different.

but !.......... with £1M. Perhaps both. The railway layout could be lifted into the roof to allow room for the car. Now, if one was to excavate half the floor and put in a sunken hoist.... sliding floor.... what if the whole thing could rise and fall within the garage... but where does the bar go ? .. 2 bars that would work.

How about lifting the whole garage walls and roof when the car hoist goes up.

I need a bigger piece of paper.

could I have another £1M please. Smile

Would I be allowed to buy a 60`s F3 screamer and a Lotus 26R (racing version of the Elan) and use the balance to race them for a tear or so? After which I would retain cherish them.

I think an Invicta Low Chassis would do nicely, plus for rainy days I'd be content with a Mk VIII manual. With what was left over, I think a couple of cases of Margaux, Pauillac, St Julien or some such so I could just sit and enjoy their beauty at my leisure.

Actually, I think £1m is quite an awkward amount; either way too much, or nowhere near enough!
But if I am really limited to £1m, then I think I would have an early crash-box Talbot 90 (a Figoni & Falaschi French Talbot would be way too expensive!) and then something more modern, perhaps a Jaguar XK120/140 or a Bristol 401/403. Together, those two should give me over 1/2 million change, so i could afford to use them, break them, repair them...

I know we have been here before, but you could always adorn the walls with this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-Vintage-Super-Rare-jaguar-Enamel-Motor-Vehicle-Sign-/221897862004?hash=item33aa24ab74
Unfortunately you will have to fetch it as the £1m won't pay the carriage Laughing
