Not myself but I know somebody who "built" a new MGB V8 roadster with a Heritage bodyshell using a genuine but terminally rusted MGBGTV8 as a donor.
It was an awful lot of work but the owner and an able assistant managed it in less than ten months. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

I also re-shelled my Mk11 Escort, lots of spanner work, the wiring loom was fun, but not as much fun as the Vinyl roof, and the headlining. _________________ KA

I have never cut up steel and welded up a chassis, no. I have scratch built a few trailers though. Not legal now though I understand...
But, way back in my youth, I assembled a few clubmans and kit cars for those who felt that they either did not have the facilities or knowledge. it was great fun as I always insisted on setting them up before handing them over so got to drive a few interesting cars. One I liked very much was a 3 litre Ford engined Marcos. Very nice motor bought by a bloke who I would have thought could have paid the tax and got it assembled at the factory.
But the more money they have the tighter they are, eh? |
