Hi all,
Someone posted this onto the OCC Facebook page today, can anyone shed light on the cars and their fate(s)?
------------------------
In 1956 or thereabouts the director of ALCAN Laboratories in Banbury (& I think two other directors at other ALCAN sites) had Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 cars that were unpainted - just bodied in brushed or polished Aluminium.
One had the registration TDU 419.
As a publicity exercise for aluminium they were not a success because they cracked and I suspect they were scrapped by about 1960.
If anyone has any recollections/articles/photos etc I'd be really pleased to know. You can comment here and/or message to my facebook page Mike Turner Lytham St Annes. Thanks _________________ Rick - Admin
