Morning all,
Ok we all like older modes of transport, that's a given.
But what other objects do you own and use, that hark back to an earlier time? I was thinking about this earlier today. We have a repro Bush battery radio, the old-looking one with the circular tuning dial on the front.
It uses a hefty PP9 battery, just like mum's original Bush radio did when I was a nipper. As the battery loses power, the volume gradually fades away as you listen to it. Also, the tuning tends to wander off slightly, requiring a manual re-adjustment of the large circular tuning control with increasing frequency as the battery begins to wilt. You don't get any of this with a modern radio.

Perhaps not quite what you mean but every time I use my Dad`s old tools (I regularly use his Thor hammers of such good quality, stud removers, clamps etc.) I think back to what were, for me, really good times. Being able to "get away" with things in the garage and on the road that would never be allowed nowadays. Nothing illegal or dangerous but just not neutered by the nanny state that the UK has now become. |

What a memory jogger, the Redex gun. I cannot imagine how many "shots" I pumped back in the 60`s! I used to hate refilling them though, it was so messy. |
