I've been asked to recommend a classic car, and it really has me stumpted, so lets see if anyone has any ideas. Its for a teenage girl.
It has to be small, engine 1500 - 2000cc, and preferably power (or at least, very light) steering, and easily available spares, including body panels. No later than 1970.
Is there anything that fits the bill? Its got me beat, for once!

Thats a good question.....another I dont have an answer to.....suppose the 3500's have.....but I do suspect she will find then two big.
I know sizewise she thinks something like a late Oxford is to big, so offhand I suppose a Rover would be in the same group for her. I will suggest all replies though!
Anything else?

Thought you'd say that buzzy......but no Power steering , and the engines too small.....
Hope nobody says an Allegro or Maxi now!

Hi
I think you could change the engine, and fit power steering, if you needed it. With the standard steering wheel, it is so light, I have a 6 inch one in my mini Sidewalk, and that isn't to bad!
Other than that, I will have to think! hehe
Cheers

How about a Ford Capri? -
The world's virtually her oyster with all of the manufacturers "add-ons" - and with so many years and models to choose from.

Triumph Spitfire.
A late 1300 should fit the bill very nicely.
Or a little more adventerous a Lotus Elan.

I put these suggestions forward this afternoon.
You dont want to hear her comments about Minis, Spitfires, MGB's and the Fiat.....about a Capri was even worse!
So that leaves The Vitesse and Rover 2000 at present.
Surely there must be something else?

The Elan ?
Light and very precise steering with quite a bit of Ford engineering. |

Hi
If it happens to be FWD and the steering feels to heavy, then fitting T&C tyres or intermediates would result in lighter steering and in addition would give more grip when on a soft surface like the fields we pak on or display on at shows.
This was a solution I used when I had a non PAS Renault 11 and my pupils complained about heavy steering. |
