Morning all,

Here's a tidy-looking Standard 8 - didn't the "Flying" name only apply to the pre-war cars? Anyway, in rare drophead form this certainly appeals to me even if the colour isn't anything special.

Interesting that the registration appears to be a thirties one.

AAA1 - YYY999 : 1930's - 1960's

During the 1930's the single and double area code registrations became obsolete and 3-letter area codes became necessary. This was in the form of an extra serial letter added to the front of the original letter codes. These new registrations where first used around 1932, but due to the standard size of number plates it could only accomodate 3 numbers and these where rotated in conjunction with the first registration letter. For example ADA999 would rotate over to BDA 1.

The w/screen looks like a pre-war version (heavy, painted sides, and opening as opposed to chrome sides and fixed) but the bonnet looks like a post-war version (no louvres).

Rear lights and number plate lamp are a bit too modern as well.
A cute little car though.
