Going through old photos, reminds me of times I've had to use recovery companies, either to move something or to have a car brought home following a breakdown.
The Ashley 1172 was bought in 2001, following a visit to an autojumble. The owner, who had a stall there, offered to drop the car off on his return home, which suited me just fine.
Both pictures show the car being delivered to our first home.
At the time the ERF was just another lorry, but I bet there are people out there preserving them now.

Funny that, I was only looking at a photo of this ERF yesterday on Flickr, it is preserved and is now painted dark blue and is used to carry a steam roller!! _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

That was my Singer being loaded up for the journey home to mine after I bought her, the man is the driver of the VW along with his little helper.

The MGA's various trips on a transporter:
The day I bought it in 91...the GTE is concidered a classic these days!
Moving it mid restoration to new storage
Its last trip on a tranporter was a return from the acid dip! (the Stag is quite a good tow car )
Finally my dads moggy minor off to its new owner in Ireland

I have quite a variety to show over the years, but Photobucket is being a pain at the moment, so here are just two to start the ball rolling:
1967, and a borrowed A55 collecting my 1936 Austin Seven van:
and 1975, collecting my Talbot 75 with a borrowed 6-cylinder Landie:
More to follow - watch this space! |

Sadly, the A55 is no longer with us - it ended its days being tipped down a Derbyshire lead mine shaft! Here it is again later the same year:
... and alternative transport, mid 1970s:
