The wiring on the ignition coil & dizzy on the Stag looks a bit ropy, the coil connectors are the insulated red things that you get in the crimp kits from DIY stores (doesn’t look right in a 70’s car) and some of the wiring has been repaired with a soldered joint, covered by insulation tape, its been done ok but as I said looks a bit ropy.

So went to order a few feet of cable to rewire it, needed standard PVC stuff 14/0.30 in white with yellow tracer and white with black tracer.
Was told that the PVC stuff is being phased out and replaced with “Thin Wall”, and there is now limited supply of some of the PVC colours (couldn’t get white with yellow trace) and Thin Wall is not made in all the same colours as PVC was, including white with yellow trace.

Couple of questions; what the difference between PVC & Thin Wall?
Does anyone know where I can get some 14/0.30 white with yellow trace in either PVC or Thin Wall?

Cheers Dave

UK, check out a company in the US called Rhode Island Wiring Service, they have everything you need. The only difficulty you might have is that they use the old 'gauge' numbers, so you will have to translate your sizes to that.

They may just have an agent in the UK, I know that they used to have one here.

Let me know how you go on.

Thanks UJ, yes they do stock it (they actually refer to it as a Lucas colour!), trouble is I only need about 5 feet, seems mad to have to go to the US for a product that origniated in the UK Confused
They are quite happy to ship me just 5 feet at a very good shipping rate, so If I can't source it locally I'll use them.

I have used this company myself, they are good. The stupid thing is, it usually costs me less to buy and ship from them, than it does to buy it locally! Shocked

UKD, did I send you details a while back of a fella over in Ash (nr Whitchurch) who is a semi-retired car electrician bloke (specialised in alternators and dynamos), wonder if he has any cabling? not sure I have his phone number any more though..
