Enjoying first show of my season yesterday with my vintage car & caravan. Amongst the people having a look I noticed a chap looking at the front mudguard of my car, he then ran his hand along the outer edge underneath the mudguard! Couldn't have a chat with him as I was chatting to others at the time. Anyhow, having had a feel the fellow wandered off. What on earth was he up to I wonder |

hi
Putting a tracker on it so that he can find out where you keep it.
Make sure you have a big padlock to keep tea leafs out.
I know that that is a laughing smiley, BUT who knows? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Could be.
I used to attend a car auction in Norwich. As the cars were driven in a guy in a suit used to follow them in with his hand on the back wing passengers side. When they stopped he'd have a quick feel of the back light.
He much have touched hundreds of cars but I never saw him even bid for one. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

Checking to see if it was an original wing or repaired with cataloy/fibreglass?
Wing edges favourite for having a scrape of filler on the inside of the return.
Also stops any mud from lying in there holding water. Cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

The previous posts made me smile, but this post seems to make a good point. I wonder if this fellow that is clearly 'hands on' counts rivets |

Are you sure he wasn't simply trying to find a depository for his spent chewing gum? |

Very good. One thing he would have found is a generous helping of wax oil.
Seriously though, I find it extremely odd behaviour |

Have you checked for chewing gum...
I like the idea of checking to see if it was driven there. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I often run my hand underneath mudguards of vintage bikes when the owner is bragging about the(very expansive) paintwork)just to feel if the paint on the inside is done the same as the outside,9 out of 10 times it feels dry and grainy which means in my opinion the painter has done a bad job making it easy to himself and probably too expansive.
Not telling the owner though, only if he asks why i did that. |
