If only things had been different. Had, for example, the "ten year test" not been introduced; if Brooklands had not been built on; if Michael Edwards had not closed down the MG works at Abingdon...the list is endless...things would be different today.
I suppose if a great many more cars from the past had survived then their value would be lower and their passing merely delayed through neglect.
Personally, I have never sold a car for scrap but have been grateful on occasions that others have; if only to provide cheap spare parts. When I drove old Austins as everyday cars, I would visit scrap yards quite frequently. Some, like Adversane, were magical places. |
