Hi Peter, we also have another bridge crossing the Forth, the Clackmannanshire Bridge, on the A876,which keeps the traffic out of Kincardine.
We leave the other crossings for those Edinburgh folk, cheers,JD _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

Hi Peter, that is some construction - how long did it take to complete? I would guess you need to take refreshments with you when crossing that length. It's like that for the Embra folk when crossing their bridge but that's due to traffic & breakdowns - still, they'll be able to brag about crossing times when they get their new one. I have spoken to another radio amateur on Prince Edward Island but bridges weren't mentioned. Must see if I can contact him again sometime, cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

Since moving to New Brunswick we haven't had a winter when very large "growlers" float down the straits. It can be quite a sight when they make contact with the bridge piers.
However, for bridges, this route is our #1 favourite. 30mph for most of the way, but who cares it is a gorgeous area.

Do they still have pink taxis in Key West? I visited once touring in a massive US "RV", aka motor home. I was amazed when I got to the camp site to learn that the RVs were packed in like sardines, with only about 1 metre between them. But as said the causeway, for that is what it is I believe, was impressive.
There is another interesting one, 24 kms in length I recall, in the US that crosses Lake Pontchartrain. When we got to the middle it was blowing a gale with choppy "seas"! But back on land the weather was quite summery..... |

They were still there in 2014, plus some cute little "hire buggies"

A significant part of the Key West route is proper bridge. The one and only time we did a route to go over the Lake Pontchartrain bridge it was closed. |

There is also the combined Oresund bridge and tunnell between Sweden and Denmark which has both road and rail traffic. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Peter, at only 4 years the build didn't take as long as I thought it would.
I see what you mean about the Keys bridge - wouldn't mind that drive at all.
Cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible
