Does this count ? It was at least 3+ miles to the workplace
and to prevent getting eaten.
Weird and a little unnerving when there is a loco coming the other way.

I was instrumental in creating a Tourist Railway organisation in country Victoria. We bought one of these and I had the honour of the first drive after it was assembled
on our metals. It was the only time that I drove it.

I recall a few years back being taken for a ride in a Bren Gun carrier round an old disused quarry.
That was quite an exciting ride. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I once was driven in an American car (cannot remember the make) running on wood gas through a forest in Finland. The driver was 80 yrs + . At times we were doing over 80mph. The scary part was the huge bang when the gas backfired. The tank for the wood chips took up the boot (or trunk) |

Not the easiest of things to get to go forwards, backwards or sideways....without any instruction manuals at all.....[and where the only two personnel who had received correct training on these, had left some time ago] |

Forgive my ignorance, but what is that? Some sort of snowplough perhaps? |

Yes, a snow blower, intended for clearing airport runways and stuff.
For a number of years there was one on the books, where-I-worked.....as helicopters and stuff were also there....although the one in the photo looks to be a much newer model then the one I had to move.
It rarely if ever got used......but, once a year, it would be fired up, and moved to the workshops for servicing, then put back on its parking spot.
Although I'm now retired from that place...I hadn't seen it for some years..... |

I ran this boat for 5 years-Lots of adventures
We did a lot of heli-skiing in the winter months and had the IMAX film crew on for a month when they filmed Underwater 3D movie.
That is me launching the IMAX 3D camera in the second picture.
During the summer month we used the boat for a sports fishing lodge
A lot of fun but 200 days a year was a bit much
cheers
Captain Hank

Some years back the friend who owns this 7" gauge black five let me drive it around his garden circuit which was very trusting of him.

Back in the early to mid 70's, Outspan the orange people had some round plastic orange cars built. Someone, (Peter?) may have a picture of one.
Don't know how many there were, but three turned up in Porthmadog, doing promotional work, driven by pretty young ladies, giving out badges and oranges etc. One broke down, and was pushed onto our forecourt. I had a look round it, and found it was based on automatic mini mechanicals. It only really needed the points opening up, but I gave it a once over, then went out for a ride. You entered through a door at the rear.
They all appeared in the town carnival parade, then disappeared soon after. Never saw one again. |

Hi Peter,
Was this railway in Comrie by any chance?
Some years ago our local car club organised a run to Perthshire where we had lunch in the Crieff Hydro followed by a visit to a garden in Comrie with a magnificent narrow gauge railway.
On the day of our visit there was no steam running but we were all given a ride in a diesel hauled train.
We were made most welcome and all that was requested was a donation to his nominated charity.

Hi Ronnie,
No, Ratho.
The owner is a leading light in the Bo'ness railway and is also involved in steam models.
