It is worth looking up the history of The steamships of Lake Titicaca, Bolivia.
Entire ships taken up mountains from the railhead. This is just one of them.

Was this the first Flat Pack shipping experience?
I doubt it, I can envisage the Romans inventing the Flat Pack idea. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

I have a feeling that the Romans did indeed "flat pack" some things for transport - timber parts of their forts and suchlike, I think. If not then the Normans definitely brought their early timber castles over all ready to assemble. |
