I became interested in Cyclekarts last year and, when researching the 1920s period, I discovered this car and I knew I had to build it. The Talbot T700 was a very advanced car, built to the new 1926 Grand Prix formula of 1.5 litre supercharged.. A team of three cars raced in the very first British Grand Prix. None finished but they did set a new lap record.[img][/img]

My car is a 3/4 scale approx replica. The original car had an offset straight eight engine with the prop shaft alongside the driver. I have a toothed belt drive similarly positioned which does allow a low seat and a low cg. The engine has a wet clutch in a 2:1 reduction box and the belt gives an extra 3:1 drop. Speed is around 35 mph, quite enough for a car without rear suspension!
