Early '50s Simca Aronde is my best guess. _________________ David

Neat. In the late 1970's I owned a Simca van. It was ex fleet from SKF. The ball bearing people. |

Spot on 541, with the Gold Rush engine. I remember that detail from one I did some work on in early '60 but what I did yesterday is difficult - have I had my tea? Cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

Apparently (according to the wife) every time there's an old film or newsreel shown on the television I keep pointing at the screen and saying "I had one of those" .If she says so it must be true, but I cant say I've noticed. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

JohnDale - Thanks for the comments and speaking of gold here's a golden moment inspired by your avatar.
I see your Corsair and I raise you a GT2000.
In the 60's my mum had a brand new Corsair in flaming red. It was drop dead gorgeous. I'd arrive at school and every boy under 13 would go weak at the knees. The car was simply stunning and as cc's were the only thing that counted back then I took a long look at the badge on the drivers side front wing and it said "GT 2000". My mum had a 'GT2000' and life just couldn't get better.
Only thing is in this Google age you'd think they'd be lots of info and pics of that model and spec. Only there's nothing at all to be found.
It's like it didn't even exist yet I distinctly remember that 2000 shield badge in red with the GT across the top in gold lettering. |

Diamond! Thank you so much for the wonderful pics.
Goeogeious as ever and still a real looker in red. Bought back so many memories.
I did get the shield (on the wrong wing) and the GT and the 2000 BUT the 2000 was from the 2000E - on the boot - and mine was the GT 2000. No gold lettering tho.
All so very long ago in another time and place.
Thanks again. Bestest ever!
I'll have a lie down to recover. |
