A bit of a strange one! Does anyone know a Norwegian speaker that could be an interpreter in the purchase and shipping of an engine.
Thanks Glynn

Hi
Left hand menu on this page shows consulates in Barrow, Newcastle and Glasgow, they seem to be your nearest.
They are surely going to be Norwegian speakers or have access to some.

Have you made contact with the seller? In my experience with Norwegians they mostly speak excellent English. The older generation are often a little less fluent but somebody usually speaks English in the family.

Thanks traction39 but unfortunately this chap doesn't and I don't think he likes computers either.

Glynn,

Have you considered communicating with the seller by email and translating your message into Norwegian using a free interpreter service on line, such as Babble? Alternatively if he doesn't like computers, you can translate the message you wish to send him using Babble and get it to him by snail mail.

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

I have tried email with limited success. I am on a hiding to nothing really, he wants cash on collection and I have tried local(to him) transport companies to get them to purchase it on my behalf. But I cannot get anyone interested in helping I would of course have paid all cost up front etc etc.
But I suppose with all these scams online maybe I expect too much.

It's a rare engine (volvo ED straight six sidevalve) and it seems a shame to miss it though.

Why not go to Norway - cheap flights are available. Of course it depends where in Norway it is located.
Might sound rediculous but you can examine the engine and arrange shipping/ payment.

We have a family friend, living in Cardiff, who is Norwegian.

Haven't specifically asked her but I am sure she would help out with this.
Let me know if the matter is still active.

Thanks 52classic for the offer. It may be more hassle than it is worth. The owner seems hard to deal with but I will let you know if I reconsider.
Again thank you
Glynn
