Me and 10 friends decided that we wanted to go to this years Tour of Mull as 3 of said friends had been the previous year and loved it.

For those of you who haven't heard of it the Tour of Mull is a tarmac rally even which uses most of the roads on the Isle of Mull in north west Scotland.

More info can be found here http://www.2300club.org/

We set off on the thursday and drove for what felt like weeks until we got to Fort William which was our stop for that night before going on to Mull the next day.

If you haven't been and visited the A and B roads of Scotland, do so! It was like our own personal rally stage with ups and downs, off camber corners and fast straights. Very Happy

Having finally made it to Mull in one peice we set up camp near Tobermorey which is the main town on the island and had a look at the cars being scrutineered. There were a wide variety of cars there from modern Evos and Scoobys to Mk1-3 Escorts, the odd Sunbeam Talbot and even a Metro 6R4 (which i will own one day Very Happy)

The rally consisted of a night stage on the friday night which rather reduced the field after several incidents Sad

Saturday was much the same with added fun because of where we were watching, sideways Escorts are always fun to see!

Saturday night didn't go quite to plan as they cancelled the first stage due tro a big incident which involved ambulances being needed, luckily no one was killed or seriously injured as far as i know.

The entire weekend was well worth the 10+ hours drive to get there and i highly recomend it to all classic car/rally enthuisiasts.

I will try and get some good pics up to give you an idea of what to expect Smile

Has anyone else been to this even in the past and would also like to share their experiences?

Dan

I've not been to this one but sounds like its worth the trip. We used to go to spectate at some historic rallies a few years ago, and marshalled on a few in the Lake District, back when the classic event went ahead of the modern (!) Lombard RAC stuff later in the day/evening - all good fun!
