Prompted by a post by TonyBrooks, I had a search for this year's wild and wintry event. These guys are amazing having seen them first hand here in the Highlands. I must stay up late and go and watch the night-time event.

I have competed twice on Le Jog, once in 1993 as driver, and again in 1999 as navigator. An awesome experience, one that I still relive twenty years later! The event was even tougher back then; the first leg from Lands End to Edinburgh was 36 hours without a break, then another 24 hour stint after an 8 hour overnight stop

On that first event back in 1993 I acted as a marshall near Lochinver in the middle of the night;you possibly passed me. |

I spotted one of them this afternoon near Bakewell, a red/white Volvo but it was several cars ahead in traffic and I couldn't see it's number. I had hoped to go to watch the test at Darley this morning but O/H has just had a minor operation so I had to keep an eye on her - but she's worth it... _________________ David

A recently completed LeJoG.
Many who frequented Brighton in the '50s may remember these little Johnstone buses.

It's been ages since I dropped by (sorry!) but health issues have been a priority of late. Not mine, I bumble happily along but my partner and navigator Gael's health is not so good.
Anyway, as this is the Le Jog thread I thought I'd mentioned that to mark my 70th birthday, we drove from Land's End to John O'Groats in our Riley One-Point-Five via B roads as much as possible, navigating the whole way by tulip diagrams.
We took two weeks overall, driving about 200 miles a day raising money for two local hospitals where we'd been patients. Though we drove through torrential rain to the start, we had sunshine all the way and it was the best couple of weeks motoring we've ever had.
