Hi all,

For some reason I really like the old Avo Meters/AvoMeters, there's something about them that shouts quality to me. Anyone else here a fan of them? I've a few in different sizes, this one (which lives next to me here) is ex-Avro, confirmed by a small plaque on the top.

I feel a page for the main site coming on ...

I have a couple of AVO 8s and a Multi-Minor that was my first meter as a boy.
I also have a couple of AVO valve testers and an LC bridge.

Yep, I have a few!

There is another thread where we discussed them:

I have an Avo that I inherited from my father-in-law who had been an instrumentation engineer in his day, at Hoffman bearings in Chelmsford. I enjoy using it. I dislike my digital meters that I have to think about when I'm using them. With the Avo the needle just leisurely moves across the scale.....

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

I noticed a couple of AVO meters in a shop in Llangollen (similar to the top photo, but not HP-branded Wink ) at 28 each, with cases that were described as WW2-era. Didn't see any cables or probes with them, though.
