Hi all
Rick just emailed me about the problems he has been having and it prompted me to post now he has sorted things out.
I am new to these forum things so please forgive me if I post multiple topics or copies in the wrong topics or if I attach invisible photos.
I have a 1965 Baileys of Bristol 10” caravan (at least that is what the bloke at the storage centre told me it is. If anyone knows different please let me know) I have owned it for about 15 years and my wife and I still use it on a regular basis for holidays.
I also have a project on the boil in the form of a 1985 Imperial Jackdaw kit van based on Cortina running gear. It is one of only about 12 ever built and if I ever get it running it will probably be the only one of its kind on the road.
The van “Jackdaw” has its own web site all about the trials and tribulations in trying to get an unfinished project up and running, so anyone with time to kill is welcome to call in and give your comments.

Cheers

Thanks for the warm welcome
After a bit of messing about I think you should have a couple of photos. It’s all clever stuff this isn’t it!

Like the van...Imagine the wind noise at 90mph? A guy down the road has something similar, but based on a Reliant, and fitted with a 'Honda Blackbird' (or something similar)engine.
Will try to get some photos.

Nice Bailey!
My parents have a 1968 version. Think the 10ft version was called the Bailey Maru. It very similar but a bit modernised without the 'speed flash' on the side, so not half as interesting looking as yours...
cheers

Best I can find offhand. It lurks in the background of many picture of other stuff, but as they've had it since the mid seventies its never been regarded as old and rarely if ever photographed except in old family albums, I really ought to get it back on the road at some stage...

Thanks for that Iain. There are a few subtle differences but it's strange to see one that’s almost identical to our little "Palace". Your picture confirms that there was a window in the top half of the door, it was missing when we got our van so I wasn’t sure and just put a panel in. Also the full window that yours has, has been replaced in ours by half clear and half frosted (it got smashed out by a rock thrown up from a car transporter a few years back) I replaced it like this as I had built a small toilet area in that corner under the seat.
This photo was taken before the last time I restored the van in 2005 so it does not show it at its best
Cheers

Dont think I have, because I use photobucket to host the pics and I had to upload it there first. May be wrong tho. Might have sent it somewhere aelse though.

Yes theres quite a few differences when you look closely, the biggest change is the lower edge of the body which curves down to a sharp corner on yours and on the later one, curves right under. The tow hitch is different too - the later one has the semi automatic reversing brake and a different handbrake.
Yes, we had a new window in the door once, when the wind caught the open door and blew it back hard against the van side. I can still remember what the original frosted pattern was like after sleeping next to it when I was young for many holidays.
cheers
