I have a list of things to do on mine. Sadly, most of it is the same list I had for last winter.
A tidy-up, really, for the Firenza, mainly involving the headlining which, in turn, means all the windows being removed. And I'm thinking about trying to get the overdrive gearbox to fit in the Sportshatch, but that also has a cold-starting problem in that if it's left for more than about three weeks, it's really difficult to start. |

Having just driven the Volvo recently with nothing more radical than an oil change, I have decided that a good thorough inspection and service is in order, starting with fitting the new rear springs that I bought about two years ago. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Same here, service for the Ovlov and attend to a few small jobs that made themselves known over the last couple or three months. The exhaust resonates through the body at certain speeds which isn't altogether pleasant. Peering underneath I noticed that the centre mounting rubber is looking a little dog-eared, so I'll have a look at that when it's up in the air next.

Ive been putting off stripping my old London taxi. Ive robbed loads of bits to put on the other one and have pretty much only a rolling chassis left. It has to go but as we all know, what ever parts are thrown away will instantly be needed no matter how long they've sat outside. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

Already started. Had a bit of a rumbly wheel bearing on the rear axle of my Daimler Fifteen so tore it down for a look. Having discovered a wheel cylinder weeping I've had the pair reconditioned by Past Parts, bored and sleeved, serviced all rear brakes, fitted modern replacement hub seals (involved a bit of machining by a mate) and the new wheel bearings both sides. One of the previously rebuilt Luvax shock absorbers was leaking, entailed a trip to Birmingham but dealt with as warranty, case leaking, not the seals, and both rebound straps, long since disintegrated are now being replaced by a pair customised from Land Rover ones.
I thought I'd be about done now but curiosity got the better of me and I had the cover off the differential and discovered an impending disaster in the planet gear carrier pin, so now the diff is out in bits and I'm pondering who I can cajole into letting me have some bits to fix it or get something made.
At least when it's done, it's another area of the car fully explored, experience gained and (hopefully) one less thing to worry about, albeit having an extremely negative effect on the bank ballance!
It's only November, I have a seemingly endless list of stuff to get to before a long holiday in March and then the start of Wedding season in April again.
Next in schedule is head off the Pinto engine for a set of valves and seats. I hope that doesn't lead to more expensive alarming discoveries....
