Hi,
I'm new to all things vintage truck related - taking my midlife crisis in a different direction to the Porsche club
A friend has a 1943 Chevy pickup, saw it and I was hooked. The family have agreed/been persuaded that this would be the ideal Christmas present for me.
While searching for suitable pickups I saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300183173652&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:PIC&ih=020 and wondered where/if you could get spares. The usual brake cylinders/rubbers and basic service stuff. There appears to be lots of choice for Chevy but none for the dodge.
I've also been given a contact for a really good looking Chevy as well - thanks Rick - but will keep my options open until Jan. Any good links for Chevy's for sale and parts etc also happily received.
All the best

If you read further down, it has already been sold to someone in the US.
Or is that you? _________________ Don't run your fingers over my truck & I won't run my truck over your fingers!

No, not me, I'm in Scotland.
Funny to be sold to someone in the USA as the guy selling it imports them from the USA
My preference would be for a Chevy anyway, but would be interested to find out if there are any Dodge spares about in case others appear. |

Parts aren't as numerous for Dodges in the UK as for Chevys, but some parts are available for military Dodges (they have more of a following over here than civvy ones - usually 1/2 or 3/4 ton) and some crossover with civvy models is possible, especially with the mechanical parts.
Saying that most things can be ordered from the US if you get really stuck, so running a Dodge shouldn't be much harder than a Chevy, might just need to work the grapevine a little more thats all!
