I've just uploaded some of my father's 16mm colour film of the old paddle boat ferry at Queensferry followed by rail maintenance on the Forth Bridge then some shots from the construction of the Forth Road Bridge. I'm the boy wearing the red shirt.

Apologies for the poor quality. I transfered it to VHS some years back and now to DV.

Nice film peter, that brought back some memories

Oh how the Health & Safety would have a field day now if we were on the bridge when the trains passed

Hi

Excellent, some of those people look as I would feel at the end, walking up, clinging on for dear life, while some others are just casually walking up!

Cheers

Yes, I still remember walking up the cat-walks under the suspension cables.
They got quite steep near the top and the mesh you walked on was very open,
possibly 4" square. I remember thinking that if I dropped anything then it would be gone.

I see there are quite few other interesting videos of the bridges about that time on YouTube.
