I've had an email in to our local car club from someone who is trying to get a value for their car, and I wondered if anyone has any suggestions on where I could point them for help.
The car is described as a 1934 "Fiat Ital Meccanica" which they've had in the family since the 1970s. They've contact the Fiat museum but not had a response. I gave them details of the VSCC as an organisation that might not cover it themselves, but might be able to point them in a suitable direction. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

One way would be to contact an Auction House which specialises in historic vehicles. They will be able to give an idea of what the car is likely to fetch at auction, if not from classifieds. The decision to sell or not is entirely at the owner's discretion. |

I'd point them in the direction of the relevant Fiat club, there was one at the NEC this weekend, they should be able to give an independent price range based on condition... It might be a Fiat Ital Meccanica Corrosio

Thanks, I'll have a look on my show map for that club. I did a bit of a search before posting but didn't have a lot of success. I do know someone that works for a classic auction house, so if the person who enquired wants me to I'll put them in touch. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

I suspect it's not what it's claimed to be! Italmeccanica was a post-war company that produced a small number of Ford-engined specials, so it's either not a 1934 Fiat, or it's not an Italmeccanica.
Having said that, I suppose it's possible that sometime in the 1950s Italmeccanica may have modified an old Fiat...
Any chance of some photos? _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Thanks. If I get any photos I'll add them here. I've sent the last two comments over to the person who contacted me. They're not necessarily looking to sell it at the moment, just trying to be more sure of what they have. _________________ 1976 Vauxhall HP Firenza, 1976 Vauxhall Sportshatch (x2), 1986 Audi coupe quattro, 2000 Audi TT |

Yeah, I meant to add that it was made to 'go faster' in the late-40s or 1950s when the above company was in business. _________________ 1989 2CV
