this year will see 60 years of Jaguar's XK, and also 60 years since the Land Rover first publicly soiled its tyres - any other anniversaries of note coming up this year??

I will have had my (Biblically) allotted: "Three score years and ten"...
Fortunately I am Athiest and intend to take more than my share; but if I stop posting you'll know I've got it wrong again.

Other more important things 70 years old: The film 'Snow White', the 'Biro',
and Orson Welles scaring the poo out of the American public when he broadcast 'War of the worlds'.

Oh! and the Rover 16 I courted the memsahib in was manufactured.

Don.

The Rover P3 started it's very short life in 1948 and went on till 1949

The first production model, the Porsche 356 was in 1948

The 2CV were produced from 1948 to 1990.

Launch of the Aston Martin DB1 named after Brown’s initials

Ford USA released the 1st of the F-Series

Morris FV-series (Series I) 1948 - 1954

Scammell's Scarab replaced the original Mechanical Horse which dated back to 1933

The FX3 was launched in 1948, a combined effort by Austin and Carbodies Ltd

The two-by Jeepster launched in 1948 as a Willys-Overland product

Scrabble was launced in 1948

Polo mints were launched in 1948

Spangles were launched in 1948....Where are they today?

The first Candid Camera by Allen Funt was in 1948

The National Health Service

Seems 1948 was a great year for lots of new beginnings

British Railways 60th anniversary

90 years since the end of WWI, maybe any commemorations might bring out an interesting WWI motor or two?
