This is a little weird, but I don't know who to ask, so please bear with
me. My father-in-law had the largest shop I have ever seen. He is no
longer with us and after looking thru his shop I found a ton (and by a
ton, I mean 50-70 CASES) of motor oil. All of it is new and never been
opened. The problem is that it is from the late 1980's. Some of the
quarts have a stamp from 1987. The boxes are dirty and some even have
"dirt dobbers" on them. He had all types, Pennzoil, Q-State, Valveline,
you name it, he has it. SAE 35, 40, 10W-30, it is crazy. Is it still
useable? Could it still be used? I thought that you guys who have some
nice classic and muscle machine would know. Could you use it those type
of engines? Is there anything to the rumor that with the harder engines
you guys need the older oil because the newer stuff does not protect
your engine as well? What the Hades do I do with it?

Any advice would be helpful.

I will try e-bay. thanks guys. As you can see, i was not joking. This is JUST the 10W-30 for Valvoline. I only brought one case back with me, cause the last thing i wanted was to have tons of cases i could not get rid of. Give me a few days to post it eBay and let me know what you think. Like I said I only have 1 case right now, but if it sells then i will probably do a lot like 10 cases at a time. What do you think start out at $10 a case??

Hi Blarc,

$10 for 3 gallons sounds very reasonable here in the UK but are oil prices not generally much lower in the US? I guess you have enough to let you test the water (or should that be oil Rolling Eyes

) a few times.

Hi

I supose the other option is emailing a few car groups, that specialise in cars from the 80's?

They may like to have a few containers to display with there vehicle, or in there garages to set the scene as it were, you could ven email them and tell them about it being on ebay!
