I don't know if you still need more info, these are from the Lucas catalogue with a price list dating to July 49

Thank you Rick. That narrows it down a bit more. They say the rim is 5" ...but my lens/glass is 4 1/2". I suppose that is right?

The Fog light was an optional extra and it could be that someone decided to add one at a later date which could be slightly different to those fitted at the factory.

I have not heard that before. I am pretty sure the SFT 462 fog lamp was fitted to all TC s as standard equipment; it has a dedicated Lucas PS1 rotary switch on the instrument panel.

The issue I have is trying to establish exactly when the stepped reflector and ribbed lens was changed for the plain reflector and block pattern lens.

If the later version was used on or after 25/10/1949 (TC 10,030) then I will fit the lens and reflector that I already have.

If the stepped version continued - possibly to the end of TC production and was brought in with the all new TD midget - then I am looking for an original fluted glass lens to replace the one that was smashed.

I have raised this question with the T series fraternity and - unusually for these guys - it has got them stumped!!

Optional, or standard fit ...? No date came with this photo.

In my Lucas "Equipment and Spare parts" manual alongside "Fog Lamp" in brackets it states "Optional" for the 1949-53 models.

That being the case a Heritage certificate should specify any factory options.

The main authority on these cars is reputed to be Mike Sherrell who - on page 72 of his book TCs Forever - says the SFT 462 was fitted to all post 4739 TCs. The photo shows the fluted glass type.

He is not often wrong but nowhere in the book does he mention a change from the stepped reflector or the later block pattern glass lens.

Perhaps - as has been suggested - the later style was after market ? With the fog lamp situated in the most vulnerable area (and no bumper bar) I suspect they were often broken.
