Anyone had any expirience of BMW Seal & Protect ? it claims to eliminate the need for waxing, provides a bit more protection from minor scratches and stone chips.

I think other dealers are offering it as well.

Save your money and give it a polish now and again.

They will sell you a special washing agent (expensive) that you have to use and IMO the whole package is a waste of money Sad

What has your expirience been? seems to be 2 camps with this, talking to a guy who runs a bodyshop rekons its brilliant, others like you say its no good!

A friend of mine paid £300+ to have this done to his Audi recently, it looked nice but so does a well polished car anyway!

There are claims of protection against sunlight (in the UK yeah right) and other atmospheric conditions in addition to minor scratches etc.

Other than that I'd have to see him next year to know if it lived up to it's claims or not.

Bought a brand new Merc a couple of years ago and paid around £270 to have this treatment. Came with all sorts of guarantees and sounded wonderful.

Try to claim on a scratch or a stone chip and it wasn't covered. The car wash was £30.00 for a small bottle which would cover 10 washes, it was like washing with a dry cloth and was unpleasant to use.

I would rather spend £300 on polish and keep the car valeted myself....

Save your money Dave, you'll get a lot more pleasure from polishing the car than you would buying this product

If you're feeling flush and want to throw £300 away give me a shout, I could put it to good use Wink

Thanks for the advice chaps, I’m always a bit sceptical about products like these but keep an open mind as every so often there is some new stuff that really does live up to its claims.

I was quoted a similar price to 47p2, think I’ll save my money and put some elbow grease in every so often.

Buzzy looking forward to testing your new wax, sounds as if there could be a lucrative market for you. Very Happy

You get better results with elbow grease and some polish.

And there's always the feel good factor when you finish polishing Very Happy

What is this feel-good factor? I feel quite ill at the thought of polishing a car. After polishing one, the aches and pains make me feel even worse...

It's not that I don't want to polish my car... I'm just no good at it because I've never been trained to do it... The worst of the dirt eventually drops off anyway. Cool

Ask me to rebuild the engine or rewire a car and I'm happy as a sandboy: Come to think of it, I haven't been trained to do that either.
