I like it, and for myself I would be inclined to keep the wing mirrors - unless they vibrate too much to be useful. But if you did want to remove them, you can get polished "buttons" from Mini spares specialists that would likely do a nice job of blanking the holes in the wings - they're made as a bit of "bling" to replace plain rubber grommets that the factory placed in the unused wiper spindle holes, but they're useful for blanking all sorts of other holes, I used them a few years ago when I removed the useless and scruffy wing mirrors on my Herald.
Edit: those "buttons" have a stud on the back, and are secured from behind the panel using a nut and washer. |

I notice mirrors are also fitted to the doors so perhaps the wing mirrors could be dispensed with if you wanted.
These are available through Car Builder Solutions and although they are stainless I imagine it would be possible- with careful polishing - to achieve a mirror finish. |

That's interesting, I have some domed chrome bumper bolts which might also do the trick, depending on how big an area they need to cover.

If memory serves the Mini buttons are around an inch in diameter. |

Since binning the troublesome electronic ignition & dizzy, we've had the Ford out to quite a few meets and so on, including a village fete on Sunday. I think I had a little fuel vaporisation on the way home, but this was following a slow crawl around a display arena then a slow drive home down winding lanes for the most part - on an unusually hot day.
The carb's fuel bowl is right behind the dynamo which gets quite warm in itself, so I think I'll make up a small heat shield to fit between the two so as to (hopefully) reduce the temps experienced by the carb. I drove it again on Monday morning and it was aok again.

You've not seen the videos I put a couple of chrome dome-headed bolts in the holes for now, not ideal but better than the mirrors IMO.
I took it out again today (hot weather at times) and intentionally included some stop-start driving in town. This after tie-wrapping some tin foil to the carb bowl, which seems to have improved things as I had no repeat of any vaporisation symptoms this time.

Sadly, itś a rare rare thing for my internet connection to be able to cope with videos, indeed pictures are often a challenge. Tried all sorts but it boils down to paying through the nose for satellite internet or waiting until they finally get round to bringing fibre internet up here... |
