Well, that's the trucks first show of the year done.

And she ran very well for the weekend after some initial teething when we got her out of the shed. Poor running and missing which was soled by removing and cleaning all the plugs.

Last year when she was used on this sort of run (12 miles each way) we had to stop and let her cool down and check her over on route. This time though after some more work over the winter on the cooling system she ran like clockwork and we didn't need to stop at all. She even ran steadily at 30mph on the flat roads on the way home which is something she had trouble doing last summer.

It's post-war but I received the following email recently, can you suggest anywhere to look? Is this similar to the engine fitted in early 50s Hawks (albeit with aluminium head)? Thanks

--

We (my nephew and me) live in Belgium near Antwerp and are restoring a 1952 Commer Superpoise S2523 with a 2267cc engine (side valve), left hand drive. Very rare in Belgium.

After dismantling the engine we noticed that the cylinder head was mended (once broken and re-welded, and to be honest it looks awful. For obvious reasons we don't like to re-install this head and consequently are looking to replace. However so far we didn't find any (not in Belgium nor the Netherlands).

Can you help us or getting us in contact with someone who has one?

Not 100% sure Rick but I do have the manuals tucked away somewhere for this model so I will try to find them out and have a look.
