Cosmetics on the old Jaguar are attended to in a first round of sponge/toothbrush action.

You could perhaps try Macon Park Motors in Crewe (on the little industrial estate next to Crewe Alexander FC's car park) for a quote to do that bumper. I've heard from a few people that they do a good job, but I don't think they're a bargain basement outfit, and I'm not sure what your budget is. So perhaps have a chat with them and ask to see some stuff they've done before making a decision? Nothing is cheap these days car repairs wise, but I always think a poor-quality, cheap paint repair will be grinning at you every time you look at the car.

Thanks VFG will bear them in mind.

Lots to see in this evening's video: Ford V8 Pilot outing, classic BMW sighting, Harrier jump jet, Avro Anson at Sleap WW2 airfield, grey Fergie tractor, & classic race car trailer movearound.

If you could get a good colour match it would not be a hard job to do the bumper repair yourself. You need a paint suitable for plastic and although metallic paint has it's challenges, if you have the patience it is achievable.

I do applaud your choice of Jaguar. What a lot of car for the money they are. Yours is a particularly nice unspoilt gem; I quite envy you!

(I am particularly interested in the Jaguar marque and have been an Honorary Life Member of the JDC for many years.)

They used to say add a couple of drops of silicone to the acrylic paint to paint plastic parts. Do not know if it works on 2 pack or other paints.

I would bet if you get any silicone in the paint you will get 'fish eyes' in the finish.

I don't know about fish eyes but a panel beater told me that is what they do or did. It was some years ago as they all use 2 pack or water based paints now.

A unique collection of 1950s-1980s colour photos and slides relating to cars and motoring went live earlier today. Oddballs include what could be a pre-production Morris 1100, and the one-off Ferguson R3F.

Out and about to the car show held at Ragley Hall in this evening's upload, where many cars (and sunshine!) made for a very pleasant day.

In today's upload we dust down the 4CV and head to a VSCC evening meet to admire a selection of pre- and post-war gems.

Evening all, the recent Anything Goes car meet is the focus of this evening's upload, everything from a Chamberlain tractor to our 4CV in attendance.

Hi

The green 1938 Chevrolet pickup is actually a 1940 model ... yes it would have had the 216 stovebolt.

The 39 is very similar to the 40 but it has a narrower top grill and bullet shaped headlights. The 40 model has the parking lights mounted on the fenders or wings or mudguards. You can buy new aftermarket grills for these plus many other reproduction parts.

Indeed, I thought I'd added a note on screen correcting that.
