Today is video day, so here's another update on the Lanchester.

https://youtu.be/BQaXbdqiLbM?feature=shared

Had to get the rear wing off to inspect the wooden frame to make sure the woodworm hadn't got in and caused problems there. Project creep well and truly set in here.

---

I can also finally let you know why the Lanchester was briefly put up for sale recently. Somewhat unfortunately, Pat and I have broken up and have been going through a period of rationalisation with projects and moving forwards. It's an amicable and mutual break up and we're still very good friends, our relationship has just taken a different path to what either of us expected. We needed to sort through a lot of personal stuff before making this public knowledge which is why reasons weren't given when the car went up for sale. Personal lives are just that. The Lanchester will stay with Pat and ownership will continue to be shared. Updates will continue as I've got quite a bit of pre-recorded footage and I will be visiting Pat after I've moved to help him continue work on the car.

The Lanchester therefore is safe, though progress may well be very slow as a result as some of the jobs will be reliant on me visiting Pat after I've moved, and Pat isn't at all keen on documenting things with video or photos. We'll just have to see how it all pans out.

For me, I've already got a place lined up and will be moving there early next year. I'm heading back up North which I'm as excited as one can be given the circumstances as I'll be heading back to a part of the country I quite like and will be nearer my real world friends than I have been for quite a few years. Things will be considerably cheaper too, which will help. I shall be reduced to just my Austin Princess, I'm selling my Austin Maestro, so my efforts at the moment are going into making the Princess in the best health it can be so I can once again use it as my one and only car. I don't commute and I don't drive many miles so it's all the car I really need.

All the best during this transition, hope your move goes as smoothly as possible.

Little bit overdue a check in here aren't I? There's nothing to report really, my time has been taken up with the logistics of packing and running my little business and all that so the Lanchester is just snuggled up in hibernation mode and probably will stay that way until the weather warms up. Pat is eager to get stuck in on project management and making the garage entirely Lanchester focused and I think that will do this project good.

For me, now I've sold the Maestro I'm now using the Princess as my only car and I'm going to just focus on sorting out all the deferred maintenance and getting her up to the standard she should be after I've moved to the new place in about 8 weeks time. I'm using her for occasional errands just to keep everything happy but not digging into any of the bigger jobs just in case, better to have a working car that needs a little bit of love than one in pieces I've then got to figure out how to move.

There is Lanchester video content waiting in my editing queue and that will be coming out in a few months. I'm clearing the last of the Maestro videos since that car is sold just so I can wrap that story up, and then we'll switch to what has been happening on the Lanchester.

Future videos on the Lanchester will happen too. I'll still need to come back to Kent to help out with bodywork and general stuff since Pat isn't confident with welding and I'm happy to do most of what's needed.

I'll probably be quiet for a couple of months again now just while I get through everything.

Finally, a new Lanchester video for you all to enjoy, I know it's been quite a while. My routines are finally getting re-established here and I'm adjusting nicely to life in Lincolnshire which has a much more comfortable pace of life for me.

Photo write ups might happen in the future, right now they're too much work for me to be able to do so I'm afraid you'll have to tolerate moving pictures until I've got more time free.

Another Lanchester video for you. Welding next to wood this time, which was fun.

I admire your tenacity. You have needed to be quite inventive to work round the problems. They may not be big issues individually but when faced with a lot of small jobs it is sometimes hard to know where to start and which order in which to do them.

You will be getting a job with car S.O.S. at this rate!!! Very Happy

(P.S. Did you see the Pagoda rebuild? Shocked)

Another video, finally, on the Lanchester.
https://youtu.be/IQ31adttVws?feature=shared

As I post this I'm not well, I can't tell you exactly what with as I'm waiting for answers from the GP. There is footage of the work undertaken on the Lanchester last year that still needs editing and posting and I will get it all done eventually. I haven't seen the car since moving north in March, but it is safe with Pat. Updates will appear, sporadically, and one day I hope to get back on this project properly.

I get moments of clarity, like this, where I can do some work, some updates. I'm hoping it's something straightforward like stress and I just need to reorganise my life a little, maybe take some time off from everything. For now I am in limbo while I wait for answers from a doctor. I wish I had happier news for you.

I passed a lovely Lanchester driving through Salisbury on Saturday. It was an LD10 but not sure of the body manufacturer.

Been a long time since I last posted. I've been incredibly unwell and unable to take the time off I need to recover. As posted elsewhere, it's suspected ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and I'm awaiting a referral through the NHS to a specialist team to hopefully get some answers. That won't happen until at least mid-February so I'm just lurching on doing my best in the meantime. The exhaustion and constant pain is pretty draining, worse than I've ever experienced it, and I've had symptoms like this on and off for about twenty years. I hope I get some answers.

Add to this that my daily driver (a 1980 Austin Princess) blew its head gasket on Christmas Day driving to friends on unlit greasy foggy Lincolnshire roads and it's not been a super time for me at all! To its credit, the Princess did get me home on Boxing Day and I've finally got the last parts I need to finish rebuilding the head and get it running again. Culprit appears to be a less-than-perfect previous skim and a dodgy gasket, which is why it blew without coming close to overheating, thankfully went coolant to compression so didn't mix fluids and give me even more work and only needed the barest whisper of a skim to correct the surface.

Let's go back in time to before this was all a problem instead, there's a fresh Lanchester video available here: https://youtu.be/Ps1-NLUFN-s?feature=shared

Dealing with woodworm and reinstalling some interior parts.

I hope you manage to identify the cause of your health problem and find an acceptable solution to it.

Best wishes,

Peter

My sympathies; my wife suffered from ME for a period of about ten years. This was thirty years ago when many of the medical profession did not acknowledge the existence of the illness. Hopefully it is better understood toady and a solution will be found for you.

Good luck.

Sorry to hear your health issues are not getting better. I have problems myself, although they are not symptomatic... so everyone thinks I am O.K.!

You just have to put on a brave face and get on with life as best you can.

Your video was most interesting. I have had same woodworm issues with the Swallow. Just as soon as one infestation is cleared up the little critters appear somewhere else!

Chin up!

Thank you, all. My health is at least better than it was back in September so I'm doing my best to be optimistic. I've not given up yet!

For reasons known only to that part of my brain that likes weird old cars, I got myself a very practical little vehicle that is soon to be off for an MoT. It blotted its copy book before I even got it home, which was a sure sign that this was a very sensible purchase.
