I had a very enjoyable (but incredibly hot!) day at Bolesworth International in Cheshire today. It got off to a fairly slow start, as you'd expect really for a Friday, which was good as I managed to have a quick look around the showjumping arenas and stalls. Then, from mid afternoon onwards, some very interesting stuff began to arrive for the inaugural Concours d?Elegance competition. Here's a very small selection, to whet the appetite of anyone thinking of attending:

Perhaps my personal favourite (I don't know why, it just appealed to me), a 1927 Bentley 6.5 Litre Doctor's Coupe, with body by Harrison.

A 1968 Lamborghini Miura S (in a period shade of Kermit green).

And yes, that was a 1956 300SL Gullwing Merc lurking in the background

Or, if you like your classics a little more stately and sleek, then there's always this 1939 Bentley Mark V Corniche

I don't think I've seen as many interesting, and immaculately presented, cars parked in a Cheshire field since the days of the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

In addition the Concours section, there's also the 'Drivers Lawn', which is to host a number of classic cars on Saturday and Sunday.

Perhaps Rick and Harley might think about attending this one if they're not already committed elsewhere, as I think there's some good potential YouTube material here? Including a brace of Jaguar XK 120s, one previously owned by Clark Gable, the other by Stirling Moss. Well, I suppose they had to drive something! Wink

One word of waning, do make sure you've applied lots of sun-cream, I did, but still ended up with a face like the setting sun by 5pm! So reapply at regular intervals, as the sunlight is bouncing up from the grass, or at least it was today. Despite me spending a good deal of time sitting in a deckchair under the shade of a convenient tree, it still got me!
