I'm a tad baffled, I want to get a spare key cut for the following key

Easy I thought, its got a Wilmot Breeden code, so I order one (modern cut) and it was completely different, initially I thought the locksmiths had got it wrong, but then when I compared the profile to other FS keys, it was different Shocked

The pic below shows a normal FS ksy on the left against the key marked FS953

Any thoughts?

Is the key from an original lock or a modern replacement?

I bought some replacement lock barrels for a LR Defender because they're standard FT locks and keys. When they arrived, I made a note of the FT number and looked at various autojumbles for one of the original Vauxhall keys (stamped with the logo) of the same number, found one, bought it, and it's completely different. I never looked at the profile difference that you highlight, only the side-on shape of the key. So aftermarket locks may be marked with FT numbers, but the ones I bought bear no relation to the actual FT profile for that number.

Hi Mike, yes I think it's the case with this car, I haven't been able to identify the blank profile (even ChatGBT failed which is a first for keys!) so may have to replace the barrels.
