Hiya Northerners, it's Australia Day long weekend here, and one of the things happening yesterday was a cruise to this private museum belonging to George Hetrell and situated in the Dandenong Ranges , just outside of Melbourne, here's a few pics of the cars inside the museum,

The Bentley, Mercedes,Riley,Bugatti and veteran Benz, were all painted by my good friend Brendan Bourke,

And outside are some of the folks who joined in the cruise, starting with one for Scotty,

and then.....

....and again, 'coz I like it,

A model Ford, '63 Chevy, another A model, '62 Holden, a Valiant coupe,....

and here's our 2 Fairlanes,in company of a '63 Galaxie XL and a '65 Mustang

...and the train, couple of funny lookin' locals Laughing

...oop's I'm one of 'em...

a Mustang, '56 Olds, '36 Ford, an F truck, a Chevy pickup, a Camaro and a '56 Chev

a '63 Poncho and yet another A model...

a '38 Ford club coupe wearing wearing '39 std. front sheetmetal, and a '34 Chev sedan,

an early Torana XU-1, these are a Holden produced item, they run a hot 6 cyl with triple Stromberg's, headers, 4 speed trans and a host of go fast gear, they were developed for racing and were very succesful, and are now fairly rare and also kinda expensive too Smile

And this is a Falcon GT,an XT series, these were Fords contribution to the local muscle car scene, also rare now and very collectable,

interior shot shows the steering wheel pirated by Ford from the USA parts bin, as was the hi-perf 302 V8 and 4sp T10 box, and the rest of the driveline. Very impressive interior too,

But the big gun in the local muscle car scene is the '71 Falcon XY GT , prices for these nudge the Million dollar mark....

.....but they are cool...351 Cleveland V8 with all the driveline and handling options that Ford could find....they go...nice Shocked

a '66 Fairlane GT, ex USA, factory 390 big block equipped

a great day , good weather and a top venue, the museum is just part of George's impressive botanical gardens,which includes the garden railway, and is made available to car clubs throughout the year. Entry is by a small donation which goes to the local fire service. The club that runs the cruises has a non discriminatory policy, doesn't matter what your tastes, stock or not....if it's of the chrome bumper era...you're welcome. Best part is, it's all done for the participants, no public to shoo off your cars....

You would get a job as a boilermaker within 1 hour. As a fitter, I went for a job a few years ago. The interview when like this, " Have you done an apprenticeship ? Have you got any tools ? When can you start ? " I started next day.

I could even be tempted out of retirement if I came there. Do they like Mopars in Aus? Didnt see any in the pics...

Yep, there was a whole row of Mopars, but the Studebaker was in the front of them, sorry...next time Smile

Who cares about them Mopars, the 1960 Studebaker Hawk was right where it should be.........out front! Very Happy

Saw a nice story about a Hawk the other day. The cops wouldnt give the driver a speeding ticket because (and I quote) ''our reading must be wrong, a car that old CANT go that fast.

Bet that guy is glad that that particular policeman was stupid...Hawk owners know better.....
