Hi all
This is my first post to this forum.
I'm from sunny Bridgend in South Wales. Whilst I can't claim to be the owner of a classic car, I do have a lot of interest in cars in general.
At the age of 53 I purchased my most radical car ever! An Ariel Atom
Not a classic of course but they do make an exception for me at the Welsh Classic Car Show
I've only attended for the passed 2 years. In 2006 I got sun burn and in 2007 I froze! This year's show is on May 11th at Pencoed, just off junction 35 of the M4.
Hope to see some of you there.
John

Welcome allong, could be a classic of the future what you have!
Any more information on it? I have heard of them, but not looked at one before.

Thanks for the reply.
The Atom is a fantastic drivers car - scares the hell out of me sometimes!
This link might give you an idea of what it can do.

Welcome John, I must say I love that atom! It reminds me of another car I've always fancied who's name escapes me at the moment...grimley scorpion? something like that. |

You know, for a car enthusiast, the UK is the best place to be.
The Atom was recently introduced into the US and the problems people have getting them registered there is amazing. Many states just say no!
The Atom forum is so busy and probaly has an equal mix of UK & US members with many more from around the world.
The guys in the US really do envy us in the UK for the diversity of our auto industry - especially the low volume producers.

Hi John
Welcome to the forum from one newby to another. If my memory serves me correctly the Atom was featured in Top Gear a while back.
Jeremy Stanford was test driving one and the acceleration was so brutal that the G forces made his face distort and his eyes run.
It is a most impressive car and is very distinctive with its exo-skeleton.
cheers

Hi Mark
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, the acceleration can feel brutal if you floor it. The car is so light one has to be very careful, a bit to much of the loud pedal can send you spinning from the outside lane of the M25, into the centre barrier and back across all six lanes (Heathrow section) and leave facing the wrong way in the emergency lane
Cheers
