Hi, now nobody get upset, please. I saved this car from the crusher and everything ....gearbox, engine, seats, wheels, ....everything had already been taken and all that was left was chassis and panels....so I took them to a rented plot, cut the car up, saved the salvable bits and 7 years later did what I had promised myself I'd do, make a bar-b-q with the front. I am not a purist, but I wouldn't cut up a perfectly restorable car - honest guv Embarassed

Today I welded in the last bit and fired it up for the first time....started with a piece of toast and then a burger and sausage....it works great! Very Happy It gets its full unveiling tomorrow for Bonfire night, when a bunch of friends are coming for a Car-B-Q party.

In the driver's seat is a chap whose head wobbles as the steering wheel turns on a pendulum....looks very real, sort of.

Incidentally, I drive a 1958 100E Prefect.

hehe interesting idea!! I've seen plenty of cars cut down to make chairs, desks, and trailer, but never a BBQ before!

Cheers Rick

You mention other cut-downs, well here is an idea I want to do when I finish my J Type.

I don't much like trailers where a car has just been cut in half because they look too abrupt. What do you think of this. It could be made into a fold-down caravan, a trailer tent or simply a load carrier:

There will always be those who will hoard anything he(she) gets his (or her) hands on but we cannot save everything and there is a point when any classic is beyond repair. I would rather see this sort of thing in use than see them scrapped as waste. Like the camper, as a teardropper I think this is more usefull than a plain trailer.

go for it I reckon!!!

like moggiedriver says, anything is better than scrapping (or banger racing) a classic, even if its way beyond saving as a car Very Happy

A teardrop trailer is a small streamlined camping pod. They were invented in the U.S. about 1935 and they are still in production and home construction today. I built mine myself seven years ago, it is 9 feet long by four feet high and wide, it is light, streamlined, warm, dry and is harmless to any classic towcar pulling it.
there is an owners club at www.teardrops.net.

Thanks moggiedriver. The link doesn't work but I will have a search. Sounds great. So, what do you think of my 100E camper?

I'd love one of those!

Here is the link to my teardrop trailer webpage, it is being revamped and is thus out of date but you can get the idea what it looks like.

The Ford camping trailer looks great.
