This is starting to become a bit of a, well not argument but discussion in this house hold

When i use the Sceptre (my car) - drive to work, park it in Tescos car park, trips out etc no one seems to take any notice

BUT

When he takes her out men wave give him the thumbs up stop and talk and he has great pleasure in coming back and telling me!!!

What is it? do they think Female driving HIS car, she will not know anything about cars?

Do you women old car drivers out there have any commnts??

And before a man gets in this point - We do not drive round with our eyes closed so we do not notice when people do it Smile Smile

From my point of view I'd talk to anyone who has an old car but some fellas might think that if they were to talk to a lone woman driving a classic they might be suspected of chatting her up?

Who knows? Just remember ladies...Mirror - lipstick - manoeuvre! Laughing

We have already discussed the lone woman bit and, if a man started giving the thumbs up bit would she be offended or sexual harrasment, but if you drive something different you should expect a little bit of interest not in you but the car

I have a suspicion that this has more to do with male perceptions of women than anything else. You know the kind of thing, ''women dont know a spanner from a nail file!''

I must admit that is me in some ways, I know a nail file but when he askes me for a spanner even if i pick up the one he is pointing at it will still be the wrong one Rolling Eyes

How about it could be the fact that a lot of men are intimidated by the thoughts of a woman invading their revere?

I think the first part of the sentence is about right Embarassed
Men are intimidated by the thoughts of women (full stop)
We all would love to go and talk about the car but most of us wouldnt just in case the lady took it wrong Rolling Eyes

Interesting statement, do you consider that to be all men or just the ones that you have met?

I am sure we are all being equally generalistic, not all men or not all ladies would be the same Confused
I was trying to add a bit of tongue in cheek humour Rolling Eyes Embarassed

Do you know it's quite funny, I don't drive but when we're out people talk to me about our cars rather than hubby! Maybe they know that I will speak to anyone where as hubby is rather shy and usually runs the other way. Laughing

Or to put it another way, I'm the gobby one of the marriage! And don't you say a word Mr Gillberry Twisted Evil
