I bought this from ebay America. The advert is from The Illustrated London News, date June 15, 1946 and the magazine cost one shilling and sixpence

I have never seen a post-war colour Rover advert with the car in anything other than blue or black.

One for a picture frame I think :chortle:

Have you seen the size of that fountain, and the gate posts at the entrance !! huge !!

Oh those were the days, when one could recognise a car at a distance greater than 3 feet.

Looks much more convincing than the original even to the extent of the reflections. Well done!

Thanks for the possitive comments

If this was put on the lounge wall it would last about 2 seconds before being noticed Shocked

It was done rather quickly and is not perfect. The program I use (Microsoft Digital Image Suite) has an automatic magic wand which takes most of the background out, then it is a case of removing the rest with the freehand tool.
You have to save the picture as a gif or png to keep the background transparent.

I blurred the edges of the original green car to try and fit my picture over it then I had to make the picture of my car slightly larger to cover the edges of the original car therefore some of the background details are lost.

Here are another couple. The originals are too large for my scanner so some of the picture is lost, but it gives you an idea
