I am not sure if this has been covered before on this forum, but do you ever wonder what happened to that car you owned many years ago? Did it survive or has it long gone to the big scrapyard in the sky. Here are a few of my old cars...
My Dads Standard XON 405
My first car HBF 498 which I swapped for the Mercedes 170 RWP 881
and my 375 Consul 2579 DK
It would be nice to think that at least one of them still lives

you could check a car through the DVLA website, in the search put car number and type and it will give you an idea if it is still active at least the number anyway

Thanks for that Greeney.
I just checked and there are no records for any of them I thought the Mercedes 170 may have still been around as it was in great shape when I sold it.........what am I saying? It was thirty eight years ago. _________________ 1964 International Harvester |

What a great set of pictures! Do you have one of the Merc 170? now there's a car I'd dearly like to own if ever I had the opportunity. |

I only have a couple of pictures, I'll scan them when I have a moment.
I have only ever seen three Mercedes 170's on the road and I owned two of them. I bought a second one locally and stripped it for parts. When I look back it was a wicked shame as there was not that much wrong with it, but it was worth more to me in bits that if I had sold it.
The parts car was used as an East German taxi in TV series "Danger Man" so I was told by the owner.
The 170SV was a little strange in that it had two transverse leaf springs at the front and independent coil on the rear. It had an updraught carburettor and a central lubrication system.
I do know where there is a right hand drive version a few miles from me and I hope to get to have ride in it one day. _________________ 1964 International Harvester |
