Hi

Well this is my Latest project, Rick saw it last week, but since then I have cleaned it up, and revealed some of the orriginal pinstriping, quite nice really. Got odd pedal cranks at the moment, but it works, so that is all I am too bothered about, looks good too in my oppinion.

Might have something else in the near future.

Anyway, a couple of pics, sorry they are big, computer is having a fit tonight, so can't wait the hour it wants me too, to resize each pic.

Cheers

Dave

Make model and year please Dave.

I have a 1946 Humber Sports ladies bicycle which belonged to my wife's aunt. Bought new in 46 at a cost of £15/10/7d Shocked

Expensive for 1946

I will post a couple of pics when I find them

are tyres and tubes for these elderly machines still available from the normal outlets, or do they need to be sourced from old-bike gurus? I've a couple in the garage, one a small ladies bike (fitted with various options including tennis racket holder on the front forks), and another a gent's Raleigh from the 30s or 40s (complete with pukka Raleigh pump and dalalaaaling-daalalalaaling audible warning device, aka bell)

Amsterdam is full of those bicycles so there must be spares available somewhere.

Hi

Some metric modern spares tubes tyres will fit, but you are better with originals, search on google for old bicycles.

There are two main outlets on the net.

Cheers

Dave

P.S... I know little about the age or model, Just that it is a Raleigh, I went for a Humber a while bike but got out bid. I have another mans Raleigh, that is just basically a frame, with two rust wheels, one being the dyno hub, a Womans Raliegh, which when done will match the one pictured above, exactly, incase I ever get a girlfriend! He he Laughing I also have a few other bicycles, one as the dynamo and lights still worked and it was free, out of a skip, but that is small and the females variety.

Hi, What is the date stamp on the Sturmy? Looks post war as chrome was quite rare pre war. Nickle plate was used on some up market bikes and just looks lovely. The rear end of the bike looks like a utility bike with the bolt-on seat stays.

Hi Dave, Can't say I have a favorite type of bike. I guess when one works with them every day it's nice to dive under a bonnet when one can. I can't ride at the moment as I have popped a disc in my neck ( C6 ). My Bike shop is in Harlow and it is called Full Cycle Ltd and I live in Suffolk near Haverhill. This was a barn find - it was hanging in the rafters, I paid £20 for it.

See what I mean about the seat stays.

Just been looking at the photos of your bike. It looks like they have the same lug set if not frame. how is this for an old bodge.

Fortunately I have some spares.
