Hi! thought I would kick off the new section. Some years ago I was given an ashtray. It lay in a box for many years until, looking closer at it, I noticed it was a heavy, good quality bronze or copper pressing depicting an Edwardian Daimler. The words: Daimler. Coventry and in smaller letters, London, Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol.
Can't help wondering if the ashtray is contemporary with the vehicle depicted, or, made at a later date?

Hi Don,

According to the Daimler Enthusiasts Club your ashtray was used in showrooms during the 1920s..

Many thanks Peter, don't know why I didn't think of checking the Daimler site, old age probably. The ashtray will now be treated with due reverence and placed in the display cabinet. Just think of the famous people who possibly stubbed out their cigarettes and cigars in it... on the way to an early grave no doubt.

Don.
