Hi

I have complained to ebay twice now about there feedback changes, how they are biased towards buyers in my oppinion, but my latest message just says "We're confident that these changes will benefit good sellers", no reason is given.

What a joke, you would think they would care about the sellers, as they are the ones that pay them!

Not very impressed.

Cheers

Dave

There are always people wanting to sell things buzzy but buyers are harder to come by.
To make buying an easier or more tempting process, EBays owners seem to have decided that buyers should be able to do as they please more or less unchecked.
Not a good thing for sellers in my opinion, to be open to poor feedback without any avenue to redress that, but a good thing for Ebay as the listing fees, sellers fees, and paypal fees, keep rolling in regardless of the nature of the buyer.

If you just bear in mind that Ebay is a business, i.e. it was set up to benefit ebay not you or I, then you get the picture more readily. 'Tis a cruel world we live in buzzy, as you'll find as the years pass by. Wink Rolling Eyes

Buzzy, a lot of other people are getting fed up with Ebay, and the alternative sites are getting a lot more sales. The leading one of these is ebid:
http://uk.ebid.net/indexmain.php
I've started listing some of my books there recently. Only one sale so far, but a Vauxhall Victor manual has had over 150 views, so it looks as if Ebid is now being picked up on forums in the same way as Ebay Smile

While I hear, and agree with most of the comments on ebay feedbacks some sellers were really getting out of hand, a few years ago a buyer could receive positive feedback as soon as the seller received the money.
During the last year the more unscrupulous ones held back feedback, given a poor, or non existent service and on recieving a negative feedback threatened to retaliate.
It happened to me last December, a sports goods company advertized a hard-to-get football shirt, I paid for it and after a week-or-so no reply to emails and after complaining to ebay recieved a full refund. I realized they never had the goods in stock and had either been too lazy to amend their posting or did it to get their website viewed. I gave a neutral feedback because it was then too late to get the goods before xmas.

It's a different matter for someone selling car parts etc' where there's a greater possibility of delinquent customers; but the big money for ebay is with the large turnover sellers of new goods.
It was getting to the stage where the whole feedback system could no longer be believed.

I think when buying our sort of goods from buyers with a couple of negatives we have to learn to read between the lines, contact them perhaps?
Don.

I think I'll try that one Alfanut; although I see where ebay are coming from with the changes I'm disappointed at their lack of action over obvious criminal activities.

Ebays biggest problem is there customer service, or lack of it!

My latest reponse was little more than implying if I was a good seller they are confident I will like the changes, this in my oppinion is because they have or have had a monopoly on online auctions, this may not be the case much longer....

Cheers

OK ,cough cough... Smile ....there's been a number of proposed changes here,1st one was sellers can no longer leave negative feedback, then they decided that Paypal would be the only method of payment...even if you pick the item up . Then they thought adding postage and handling on top of the cost of the item and applying their commission on the total amount was a good initiative...so the seller loses even more from the sale price. Paypal won't release the funds to the seller for up to 21 days, but reserve the right to do "charge backs" to the seller if ,for ANY reason the buyer is unhappy....for up to 180 days. So...they have your goods, and if they choose, they can have your cash too, and the seller has no recourse. This is the short short version.....there are pages of submissions on the Ebay forums detailing all sorts of horror stories by vendors both with Ebay and their laughable Help lines and Paypal and their problems, as well as lengthy submissions against the proposed changes by most of the large financial institutions who view this as a direct contravention to the Trade Practices Act,etc, etc. Today paper reports that the courts have crunched their plan, but no doubt they'll appeal a few times and drag it out for a while longer....and probably figure out some other plan to sneak it in bit by bit. Listings are down as people give up in disgust and outrage....what other business would even think of treating their paying customers with such contempt...?
Apparently we are the guinea pigs for these schemes, so if it doesn't float here, maybe you folks won't cop it.... Col.
